Beeb Bollocks

Alfie is absolutely right, the reason given by the the BBC to renege on its plan to relocate its sports department to Manchester is pretty lame. Because London has won the 2012 Olympics and it will be too expensive to ship the circus down the M6 to cover a two week event? What happened to "a momentous day for Britain" and the Olympics are for the country, not just London?

Bollocks. Of course, the Beeb was looking to renew its Charter, (and dosh to pay large extras) so making undeliverable promises was the order of the day.

But my main point is, had I been one of those BBC planners, one of the factors I would have counted in would have been the possibility that London might, just might, have won the games. Sure, it was a long-shot then, but it should have been on the radar. A perfect Get-Out-of-Jail free card. So why no such caveat?

A) the Beeb had no faith in the bid and b) they were so witless that that they couldn't build in the most obvious of get out clauses.

I Believe in the BBC? Don't think so.
